Beng
Beng school is located approximately 28 kilometres from Siem Reap. The elders from Beng Village approached Growing Cambodia after hearing about our school at Oroluos. The elders wanted to give the children from their village the same opportunity to learn English as those at Oroluos. The village worked together to construct their own building and once finished lessons commenced on 6 June 2016. The plan to use only one teacher quickly changed when over 280 students turned up on the opening day – some of the children coming from surrounding villages. Four teachers now take a number of afternoon and evening classes.
The manager of Oroluos, Sopheak, also manages the school at Beng, with his experience, local knowledge and hard work giving more rural Cambodian children increased educational opportunities.
