Koy Meng
Exciting news came in December 2014 when a partnership was entered into between the primary and secondary schools at Koy Meng in the Banteay Meanchey Province and Growing Cambodia. Koy Meng is a two hour bus drive from Siem Reap towards Battambang. Over 580 primary and secondary students attend these government schools. With the infrastructure already in place our organisation initially contributed funds to help improve the quality of education through the provision of art materials, stationery, pens, library books, computers and other teaching aids. English lessons are now offered to the primary school students by two local teachers whose salaries are paid for by Growing Cambodia with another local teacher teaching the secondary school students.
Vattey, originally from Koy Meng, is our Cambodian manager for this school. Vattey was the first University student whom Growing Cambodia supported and has now graduated with a Bachelor of Finance degree. Vattey is also our accountant in Cambodia and is responsible for distributing the monthly payments to all four schools and villages.
